Tennis with crypto: match prices, set scores and the retirement rule
Tennis runs almost every day of the year, on four surfaces and in every time zone. The markets are simple; the rules for a player who stops mid-match are not, and they decide more bets than most people expect.

A tennis match has no clock and no draw, and it can stop at any point if a player is hurt. Those three facts shape every market. Before thinking about which coin to bet with, read how the sportsbook treats a retirement, because it decides what happens to your stake when a match ends early.
Match winner and how retirements are settled
The match winner is the simplest bet in tennis: two players, one wins. The difficulty is the player who stops.
A retirement can happen in the first game or at 5–4 in the deciding set. Sportsbooks handle it with one of three rules, printed in their tennis terms:
- One set completed. If at least one full set has been played, the player who advances is the winner for betting. Before that, bets are voided.
- First ball served. Once the match has started, the advancing player wins the bet, however early the retirement.
- Match completed. Unless the match is played to the end, match bets are voided.
The difference is large. Under rule 2, a bet on a player who twists an ankle in the third game is lost. Under rule 3 the stake comes back. Markets already decided before the retirement, such as the winner of a finished first set, normally stand under all three. A walkover, where a player withdraws before the match starts, usually voids everything.
For crypto tennis betting there is a second cost to a void: the stake comes back in the coin you used, and if that coin has moved, the refund is worth a different amount in your own currency.
Set betting and game handicaps
Set betting asks for the exact score in sets. In a best-of-three match there are four results: 2–0, 2–1, 1–2, 0–2. Best-of-five at the men's Grand Slams has six. The longer odds reflect the narrower call. A clear favourite might be 1.30 to win the match but around 1.85 for a straight-sets win (example prices).
Game handicaps spread the total games between the players. A line of -4.5 games on the favourite needs a win by five games or more across the match, for example 6–3, 6–2 (twelve games to five). Game handicaps suit matches with a heavy favourite, where the match price is too short to be worth backing.
Total games ask for the combined games in the match. Two strong servers on a quick court push the total up, because breaks are rare and sets go to tiebreaks.
One rule shapes every deciding set at the majors. Since 2022, all four Grand Slams play a 10-point tiebreak at 6–6 in the final set. A deciding set there can no longer run to 12–10; it ends 7–6.
| Market | What you predict | Retirement risk |
|---|---|---|
| Match winner | Who advances | Depends on the house rule |
| Set betting | Exact score in sets | Usually voided if unfinished |
| Game handicap | Winning margin in games | Usually voided if unfinished |
| Total games | Games played in the match | Usually voided if unfinished |
| First set winner | Winner of set one | Stands once that set is complete |
The calendar: Turin, then the 2027 Grand Slams
The men's season ends with the Nitto ATP Finals at the Inalpi Arena in Turin from 15 to 22 November 2026. Eight singles players qualify, play three round-robin matches each, and the group winners and runners-up go on to the semi-finals. A round-robin format means a player can lose once and still win the title, which changes how outright prices move during the week.
The 2027 season opens on 1 January with the United Cup, and the four majors keep their usual places:
- Australian Open: main draw 17–31 January, after qualifying from 11 to 16 January. The women's final is on 30 January and the men's on 31 January.
- Roland Garros: 23 May to 6 June.
- Wimbledon: 28 June to 11 July.
- US Open: 29 August to 12 September.
The ATP calendar for 2027 has 59 tournaments in 29 countries, including nine Masters 1000 events. Seven of those nine use a 12-day format with 96-player draws, which means more first-round matches and more prices in the opening days.
Time zones matter for crypto tennis betting. Melbourne night sessions finish in the European morning; New York evening sessions run past midnight in London and well into the next day in India. Readers in Australia and the UK have country pages with start times in local time.
Bankroll and coin choice for a year-round sport
Tennis never really stops. Between the United Cup in January and the finals in November there are tournaments almost every week, often several at once. That favours a steady bankroll in a coin that does not move.
- Hold the betting balance in a stablecoin so a week of small wins is not wiped out by a fall in the coin.
- Prefer a low-fee network for small top-ups during a tournament week.
- Withdraw on a schedule, for example after each Grand Slam, rather than after every match.
Stake sizing over a long season is covered in our bankroll guide, and multiple tennis legs in one slip are explained in the accumulators guide.

Bitcasino.io, Wild.io, Vave and Shuffle hold Curaçao licences, Rakebit holds an Anjouan licence, and BetPlays does not publish a licence number. How these lines are read is set out on the methodology page.
A checklist before the first serve
- Find the retirement rule in the sportsbook's tennis terms.
- Check whether the match is best-of-three or best-of-five.
- Note the surface and the session time in your own time zone.
- For set or game markets, remember that an unfinished match usually voids them.
- Match the coin and network in the deposit screen to your wallet.
