Cricket for crypto bettors: three formats, three different clocks
Cricket is the one sport where the same two teams can meet in a three-hour match or a five-day one. The format decides which markets exist, how rain is handled and how long your coins are tied up.

A cricket bet is really two decisions: the match, and the length of time you are prepared to leave money on it. A T20 international finishes in an evening. A Test can run for five days and still end level. Crypto cricket betting adds a third decision, the coin, and that one is shaped by the first two.
Three formats, three sets of markets
Each format has its own rhythm, and the coupon follows it.
- T20. Twenty overs a side. Markets lean on the powerplay, total sixes, top batter and runs in the first six overs. Prices move hard after every wicket, which makes it the busiest format for in-play.
- ODI. Fifty overs a side. There is room for a collapse and a recovery inside one innings, so team totals and top bowler markets carry more weight than in T20.
- Test. Up to two innings per side over as many as five days. Match odds have three outcomes because a draw is a natural result when time runs out. First-innings lead, session runs and innings runs open up as the match moves.
The format also decides how often a market is voided. A short game has fewer chances to be interrupted. A long one has more weather to get through, which brings us to the rain rule.
DLS, no result and how bets settle
When rain cuts overs, the ICC uses the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method to set a revised target for the side batting second. If the reduced match reaches its minimum length, the DLS result is the official result, and match-winner bets settle on it.
The minimum is what matters. Under ICC T20I playing conditions, at least 5 overs must be bowled to the team batting second for the game to count. In a men's ODI, both teams need the chance to bat for 20 overs, unless one side is bowled out sooner or the chase is completed early. Fall short of that and the match is a no result.
| Format | Minimum for a result | If the minimum is not reached |
|---|---|---|
| T20I | 5 overs to the side batting second | No result |
| ODI | Chance to bat 20 overs each | No result |
| Test | Played to time, no reduced target | Draw if unfinished |
A no result usually means match-winner stakes come back. Player and total markets are where sportsbooks differ: some settle any market whose outcome was already decided, others void everything once the overs are reduced. That wording sits in each operator's sports rules, and it is worth reading before a monsoon fixture.
Top batter and method of dismissal
Top batter is one of the most popular cricket specials because it rewards reading the order rather than the result. Two details decide whether a winning pick pays in full, and both are printed in the market rules rather than on the coupon. First, ties: if two batters share the top score, dead-heat rules normally split the stake between them. Second, what counts when a batter never walks out because of a declaration or a quick chase: some markets treat that player as a runner, others return the stake, and the market rules say which.
Method of dismissal asks how the next or a named wicket will fall. The common options are caught, bowled, leg before wicket, run out and stumped, roughly in that order of frequency. Hit wicket, obstructing the field, timed out, retired out and hit the ball twice exist but are rare enough that they often sit inside an “other” price. Since caught dismissals are the most frequent, the price on “caught” is short and the value, if any, hides in the less obvious lines.
Why a five-day Test changes the coin
This is the part that separates cricket from almost everything else on a crypto sportsbook. A match-result bet on a Test can sit open from the first morning to the last afternoon. In that time the coin in your balance keeps trading.
Take an example. You stake 0.01 BTC on a Test at 2.60 on day one. If Bitcoin's dollar price falls by a tenth over the five days, a winning return of 0.026 BTC is worth a tenth less in your own currency than it was when you placed it. The bet won; the coin lost ground. Bitcoin's own FAQ still describes its price as very volatile, which is the reason this example is not far-fetched.
USDT removes that drift because its issuer pegs it one-to-one with the US dollar. For crypto cricket betting on long formats, our estimate is that most bettors are better served staking a stablecoin and keeping volatile coins for T20 singles that settle the same evening.

CoinPoker lists BTC, ETH, USDT, SOL and TRX. Bspin lists BTC, ETH and USDT. Vave's six coins include USDT and TON. Rakebit and Wild.io both take USDT and USDC, and Rocketpot lists USDT on two networks. Payout timing is set by each operator: Rocketpot states it pays within 72 hours, and Vave allows up to 3 days.
For crypto cricket betting during a long tournament, the identity check can matter as much as speed. Rainbet gives 72 hours to supply documents once asked, while Vave allows 14 days and can ask before any payout.
Following the cricket calendar
International cricket rotates through the year, and domestic T20 leagues fill the gaps. The IPL page covers the biggest of them in detail, and the India guide explains how stakes in rupees translate into USDT. If you like trading prices while the ball is bowled, the live betting guide explains suspensions between deliveries.
A pre-match routine for cricket
- Note the format and the minimum overs needed for a result.
- Check the forecast; a wet day makes a no result more likely in limited-overs games.
- Read how the sportsbook settles player markets after a reduction in overs.
- Match the coin to the length of the bet: stablecoin for Tests, anything for a T20 single.
- Keep the stake within a plan you set in advance; our bankroll guide shows how to size units.
